  • Mike Meiré in action

    Comment, Rheindesign

Mike Meiré giving the tour to DornbrachtOne could say that it is not too exciting to visit a design studio that is showcasing its portfolio. Luckywise Mike Meiré was showing around a group from Dornbracht, one of his clients when I entered the premises. So I could witness how entertaining Mr. Meiré is in presenting. One of the managers of Dornbracht even said that he would always »be over the moon« by his demonstrations.

That of course has been amusing to see – and it reminded me that we designers are often kind of a bird of paradise (especially for less crazy and tightly organised German companies): colourful, a bit off the trolley and entertaining. Mike Meiré inspiring the crowdMike Meiré surely has those qualities, but they are extended by reliable exteriors: well-dressed and a generous and pleasing studio interior. The atrium space of the studio is packed with an oversized and strange sculpture, several showcases and some boards and tables that show the works of the studio.

A bit esoteric (but then even more amusing) in my opinion was the interior concept for bathrooms – a table with a buddha figurine, green plants and a screen showing an animated 3D concept. Underlined by the story of Meike Meiré who was talking about times when he did meditation and the concept reflecting on… . Anyway – that was the point when the Dornbracht manager’s feelings blew up and he expressed his deep fascination.

So – insist on Mr. Meiré that he is giving you the round when you are visiting the studio. Otherwise it could be a rather usual or even boring experience!

Right, I came luckily just as he was delivering a speech and it was very interesting. For sure it could be maybe controversial for many, but at least enjoyable to know more about his creative sides.
