  • Subway’s tasty little Wiener

    Gloss

Subway’s tasty little willieIt’s really impressing how precisely Subway (the biggest sandwich maker in the world) reflects its corporate core values with a new mascot for the German market. With an immaculate sense of style the designers of Subway created a truly exceptional creature: the animated sandwich »Sub Wayne«.

When I saw it the first time sticking on the shop window of a Subway downtown Cologne, half dissoluting, I really found my image of the sandwich maker completely approved: wishy-washy bread with an indefinable compound of flavours sold in a cheap-style restaurant. But »Sub Wayne« (here some pictures) is actually a lot worse than any sandwich from Subway. I mean – take a look at this scrubby creature: it’s pale, it’s naked – his father could have been an unsuccessful penis or even a naked mole rat.

It seems Subway wanted to copy »Bernd das Brot« (Bernd the bread) which is very popular in Germany and loved by many children and even adults (whatsoever…). »Bernd das Brot« even won the »Adolf Grimme Award«, probably the most regarded award for telecasts.

I’m quite sure that »Sub Wayne« will not win any price – at the utmost he’ll win a price for the best penis lookalike. But anyhow – I am sure it perfectly fits the Subway culture!

Ya know why we adults like Bernd?
Its because he is so sarcastic and depressed all time. Just as live is somehow. watch it and ya know what I mean. Its just “Situationskomik”.
