    Announcement

Dott 07 Festival on the QuaysDott 07 (Designs of the time 2007) is a year of community projects, events and exhibitions based in North East England that explore what life in a sustainable region could be like – and how design can help us get there. The year culminates in a twelve day festival in Newcastle Gateshead in October 2007, showing the results of projects and enabling all the people involved to share experiences. The Dott 07 Festival is supposed to inspire people and motivate them to participate in or even initiate similar projects themselves.

Lots of the projects presented at the festival are service design projects. Service design is still quite an unknown field in Germany. In England however, service design is becoming an accepted design dicipline and numerous service design agencies have evolved over the last few years.

This is service design, too.A group of students from Köln International School of Design are visiting the festival to learn about service design, find out why there’s such a big difference between Germany and England concerning the understanding and acceptance of service design and to act as embassadors for service design. Therefore, they have launched a blog reporting on the events of Dott 07. The blog will feature visual and written impressions from the festival, interviews, evidences of service design throughout Newcastle, insights from service designers, public opinions and, and, and …

So, check the inofficial Dott 07 Service Design Blog regularly for new impressions and feel free to leave a comment!
