WMF comes up with a visually appealing idea: they build a 4 to 4 meter wall consisting of 256 WMF1 coffee pad machines. The result is a low-resolution display that functions by arranging the white or black models of the machine in the matrix. An aesthetically wonderful project that sets the analogous coffee into digital context. However it reminds me of a project that I did in cooperation with Matt Glenn from Sydney: The Lost Wall. Still coffee seems to be a more attractive object to stack than IKEA drawers… .
The project’s premiere was on the spring festival in Stuttgart on April 11th, 2009. Further appearances are not announced yet. The WMF1 Wall can be customized with one’s own design online.
